Clifford Allen Wishon was born in Johnson City, Tennessee, the son of Hunter Wishon and Bertha Mae Miller.
He was Killed in Action in Florence, Italy after only three weeks. He was 19.

“Clifford was the 5th of eleven children. He was killed in action in Florence, Italy. He had been there just 3 weeks. He was buried in Italy until after the end of the war. His body was then returned to his family. They met his coffin at the train station and had a family burial. His parents were Grover Cleveland (Hunter) Wishon and Bertha Mae Miller Wishon, who are now buried there.”

Mr. and Mrs. Hunter Wishon of 902 Queen street have been notified that their son, Cpl. Clifford Wishon, 18, was killed in action in Italy October 3. Corporal Wishon, one of two service brothers, worked in a Johnson City furniture company before he was inducted into the Army November 2, 1943. He trained at Camp Wolters, Tex., and in a Mississippipost and went overseas with an infantry outfit last June. Surviving besides the parents are four brothers, Pvt. Clyde Wishon, now in France, and Floyd, Sidney and Willie Wishon, all of Johnson City, and five sisters, Mrs. C.L. McQueen, and Misses Dessie, Erna, Mary Lou and Lena Mae Wishon of Johnson City. Private Wishon, who is 23 years old, is a member of an Army Engineer Corps outfit and has been overseas about a year and a half. He began military service in 1942. His wife, Mrs. Joyce Ensor Wishon, lives at 1212 East Chilhowie avenue.
