Charles Wallace Saylor

Son of Charles Daniel Saylor and Nora Cletia Pugh
Enlisted 20 Jan 1942 – Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia

He landed on Utah Beach on D-Day, 6 June 1944 and was Killed in Action two days later at Emondeville, France. He was 26 years old and participated in the Normandy Unit Campaign. Charles was awarded the Purple Heart. He was assigned to Company C, 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division.

Attended Barnes High School, Bethel Baptist Church. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles D. Saylor, Route No. 5, Box 88, Johnson City, TN.
