Staff Sgt. Charles Edward ( Red)  West, 37, son of Mrs. Myrtle West, formerly of Johnson City and now of Omaha Neb., was killed in Vietnam action June 17. He was the son of the late William H. West. He attended Johnson City School and for  a time was employed with the Johnson City Press-Chronicle. Surviving are a daughter, Alice; three sisters and one brother.
