Pvt. Charles A. Merritt, son of Mrs. Jessie L. Merritt, 206 Henegar Street, was reported killed in France on Aug. 17. He volunteered in 1941 and had been overseas two years with the cavalry. He formerly was employed by Albers Drug Company. Beside his mother, Pvt. Merritt is survived by a brother, Pfc. Philip Merritt, witht he Engineer’s Company Division; and a sister, Mrs. J.H. Madden.
