Funeral for Pvt. Carroll B. Evans, 21, whose body arrived in Johnson City, accompanied by escort P/5 Gordon Wheeler, will be conducted from the Meadow View Baptist Church.Private Evans entered service in March, 1943, and served with the Second Division of the 28th Infantry. He was killed in action on July 27, 1944 at St. Lo, France. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rod B. Evans, rotue 2, Butler; two brothers, Ralph, Route 2 and Herman of the home; four sisters, Mrs. Chasteen Wagner, District Heights, Md., Bonnie Kate, Edith and Barbara Evans, all of the home.
