Carl Robert Keys was born on 14 September 1925 at Jonesborough, Tennessee, the son of Charles Alexander Keys and Anna Ruth Susong.

Pvt Keys was killed in action in the European Area. He is buried at Highland Cemetery, Johnson City, Washington County, Tennessee.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Keys of Jonesboro, route 5, have received War Department notification that their son, Pvt. Carl R. Keys, is listed missing in action somewhere in Northern France. The 19-year-old infantry soldier, a farmer in civilian life, was inducted into the Army July 25, 1944. He had trained at Camp Fannin, Tex., and Fort George G. Meade, Md. He was a 1944 graduate of Jonesboro High School. A sister and brothers, Virginia and Bruce, also live on route 5.
