Carl James Sentell was born at Knoxville, Tennessee, the son of James Carter Sentell and . Husband of Billie Burke and father of Judith Carol Sentell. Siblings were Earl Santell, Fred Santell, Willie Santell, Emma Santell, Bill Santell, Howard M. Sentell and Ralph D. Sentell.
He enlisted with the Marines in November, 1942 and completed three months of training with the Marines at Parris Island, S.C. He died in Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in Onslow County, NC
He had two cousins who served with the marines. William E. “Billy” Sentell, son of Earl A. Sentelle and Claude M. Sentell, son of Claude M. Sentelle Sr.
