The body of Pvt Carl Hubert Hickman, 19, will arrive in Kingsport Saturday at the Clinchfield Railroad Station at 2:35 p.m. and will be accompanied by a military escort and an honor guard from the Veterans of Foreign Wars to Weaver – Cooper Funeral Home. Pvt Hickman was killed March 2, 1945, in Germany and was a machine gunner with ground forces. He entered service November 6, 1942, and was trained at Camp Lee, Virginia and Fort Knox, Kentucky. He went to England, then served in Sicily and Germany. He was a native of Bristol and was a member of Virginia Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors are his mother, Mrs. Kelly Johnson of Bristol and his grandfather, Henry Hickman; and an aunt Mrs. T.W. Rowrick, near Bristol.
