Killed during Operation Husky. USS LST-158 hit by German Ju-87 & 88 bombers; Ju-87 Stuka dropped a single bomb into the well deck that was full of munitions, fuel & vehicles causing a massive fire & explosions that lasted for several days, just off Red Beach, Licata, Sicily.
