Private First Class Benjamin Hunley Britt was born on 24 August 1923, the son of Hunley Henry Britt and Ermine Lovenia Ivy. He was Killed in Action 18 December 1944 during the Battle of the Bulge.

The Knoxville Journal, February 23, 1945:
Pfc. Benjamin H. Britt, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. H.H. Britt of Talbott, was killed in action Dec. 18 in Belgium, the War Department recently notified his parents. Private Britt entered the Army on March 1, 1944, and went overseas in July. He had seen service in England, France and Germany as well as Belgium. A 1942 graduate of White Pine High School, he is survived by his parents and a sister, Miss Maude Britt of Talbott.

The Morristown Gazette Mail, 18 November 1947:
Mr. and Mrs. Henry H. Britt, parents of the late Pfc. Benjamin H. Britt, have been advised by the War Department that the remains of Pfc. Britt will arrive in Morristown, November 20th. The remains will be removed to a local funeral home where they will repose until the hour of the funeral, which has been on for November 21st. Interment in Jarnagin’s cemetery.
Pfc. Britt, native of Talbott, was killed in action December 18th, 1944, when in Belgium, where his remains were interred in the beautiful Henri-Chapelle cemetery. He was 21 years of age. He had enlisted in March, 1944, and went overseas in August of the same year, seeing service in England, France, Germany and Belgium. He had attended school in White Pine, graduating in 1942. Surviving are his parents and one sister, Miss Maude Britt, all of Talbott.
