Athel Jackson Cline was born on 12 September 1923 in Tazewell, Tennessee, the son of David L. Cline and Nettie Jane Powell.
He was killed in action on 26 April 1945 in the battle of Okinawa. He received basic training at Camp Rucker, Ala. and at Nashville, Tenn. He was inducted into the service in Septembere, 1943. His brother Millard O. Cline was killed in France.
