Amos Oliver Buckner was born on 20 January 1920 to James William “Will” Buckner and Nannie J. Buckner.
He died 6 August 1944 of wounds suffered in the Battle of Mortain, France.

Funeral services for Pvt. Amos A. Buckner, 24, who died August  6, 1944 from wounds received while serving with General Patton’s Third Army,. 36th Division, will be held at 2:00 o’clock Friday afternoon from Mars Hills Church. The body , after arrival in Etowah Wednesday morning on L&N train 32, was taken to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Buckner of Englewood, Route 3. Survivors other than the parents are four brothers, Richard, Chester, J.L., and Eugene Bucker, all of Englewood, Route 3.
