He made landfall on May 25, 1945 somewhere near Shuri Castle is what his family was told.
Here are some things that were passed down to me via what limited knowledge of his death was given to my grandparents.
Granddad told him he didn’t have to go since his brother was already in France, but he just couldn’t make peace with his being home, while brother Frank was in the war, so he signed-up for the Marine Corp. Came home and told his parents what he had done and when he was leaving. He made land-fall on May 25, 1945, was killed June 6, 1945. He was somewhere near Shuri Castle is what they were told.
