2018 Reading of the Names

ETVMA Annual Reading of the Names

Beginning at Sunrise on Monday, May 28th

At the East Tennessee Veterans Memorial in World’s Fair Park

Beginning at sunrise, volunteer readers are needed to read aloud each of the 6,253 names engraved on the granite columns of the East Tennessee Veterans Memorial.

More than 100 readers are needed, with each volunteer reading approximately 75 names. Names are read chronologically, by county and conflict. No need to pre-register – just show up and get in the reading queue. Families welcome!

At the conclusion of the Reading of the Names ceremony, the additional nine newly engraved names will be dedicated, followed by the annual Memorial Day Service organized by American Legion Post 2

This is a rain or shine event.
